just thought of another one....
2 Timothy 1:7 (King James Version)
7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
hi, i'm new to this forum and i was hoping someone could help me with some reasoning here.
i notice in the watchtowers they mention that on occasion people fall into the "trap" of "independent thinking" and this is often associated with pride and a misunderstanding of god.
also just as frequently it mentions that god progressively reveals truths to his followers.

i'm back from sitting through three days of the most mind numbing dribble you can imagine.
the worst part was looking around and watching as the good little automatons took it all in.
the only fun i had was doing my "mission.
After each "recon" I would sit in my seat and listen to "Damm It Feels Good To Be A Gangsta" on my mp3 player
btw.... I hear he CIA is hiring.

independant thinking.... as opposed to what? dependant thinking? is that really thinking at all? or just agreeing blindly?
Good point!

Hi and WELCOME! I've never been a JW, so my "independent thinking" was never compromised. One of my favorite scriptures on independent thought is:
1 Thessalonians 5:21Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
.
if an atheist leads good life with high moral standards, because he choice to do so and thinks for logic it is a good thing, does it not mean much more then when a theist does the same, because his gods tells him to do it?
what's your thoughs on this?
If a tree falls down in a forest and no one is around to hear it does it make a sound?
Yes and no.
today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, common sense, who has been with us for many years.
no one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.
he will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, life isn't always fair, and maybe it was my fault.
Frankly, I think he passed years ago ....
i've been struggling for quite some time now about continuing my exploration of the jehovah witness faith.
i am a "cradle" catholic and have been very involved with the church.
i started to become disillusioned several months back with all of the tradition, habits, and teachings of the church--which i began to seriously doubt.
I've been strugglingThere's the key. Jesus said his 'burden' is light.... you need to explore what's out there, you've only just begun...don't settle.
i love you so much.
i hope someday you'll read them so you know how i feel about you and how deep my love for you is.
each time i invite you to my house you say you're too busy to come.
With so much negativity in the world, it's nice when someone shares something positive and can raise a person's spirit. Thanks!
... sort of.
at least you cut-out the banks .
zopa is a person-to-person lending and borrowing exchange.
Sounds like a good idea. I know "groups" have got together to lend small amounts of money to women in third world countries to get them started in some sort of home business. They repay, with interest and it's a win-win all around.
i enjoyed this article about how the state of israel came to be and the history behind some of the present day conflict.. full article here:.

by right Palestine belonged to its inhabitants
right... which included arabs and jews - they both inhabited the area for hundreds of years.
